LUMA joins AGIX and KOID under KraneShares' Japan foreign investment trust notification filings, enabling access through eligible licensed securities firms.

NEW YORK, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- KraneShares, a leading provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) delivering access to emerging technology strategies, today announced the completion of a foreign investment trust notification filing in Japan for the KraneShares Photonic and Optical ETF (Ticker: LUMA), enabling Japanese investors to access the fund through eligible Type I financial instruments business operators.

LUMA joins two other KraneShares emerging technology ETFs already covered by the Japan foreign investment trust notification filings: the KraneShares Public-Private AI & Technology ETF (Ticker: AGIX) and the KraneShares Global Humanoid Robotics and Physical AI Index ETF (Ticker: KOID).

Together, the three ETFs provide Japanese investors with differentiated exposure to key areas of the global artificial intelligence ecosystem: AI technology and applications, the infrastructure connecting increasingly powerful computing systems, and humanoid robots bringing AI into the physical world.

LUMA: Investing in the Infrastructure Moving AI at the Speed of Light
The KraneShares Photonic and Optical ETF (Ticker: LUMA) provides exposure to public and private companies worldwide developing optical interconnects, transceivers, fiber-optic cables, and other light-based infrastructure designed to move vast amounts of data at extremely high speeds.

As AI models grow larger and data centers connect greater numbers of advanced chips, moving data between those chips is emerging as a critical infrastructure challenge. Computing power has increased roughly 60,000 times over the past two decades, while the capacity to move data between chips and systems has increased only about 30 times.1

This imbalance is accelerating the transition from traditional electrical connections toward optical technologies that use photons to transmit information at high speeds while potentially improving the performance, energy efficiency, and scalability of AI infrastructure. Goldman Sachs estimates the AI networking market could exceed $150 billion by 2028, approximately nine times its current size.2
